2011 - Parkinson's Support Meeting

Parkinson's Support Meeting on 8 June at 11am

Trundle Services & Citizens Club

Parkes will be bringing a 14 seater bus, that will leave the Parkes Neighourhood Centre at 10am.

This meeting is to encourage interested people in the area to find out more information about Parkinsons. This meeting will include a talk by Anthony Simmons who will talk and answer questions on his deep brain therapy.

At the August meeting in Parkes Wendy Smith who is a Parkinsons Nurse from Orange will give the address and answer questions.

The Parkes Parkinson's Support Group took their monthly meeting to Trundle for the first time. Trundle resident Anthony Simmons was the guest speaker taking about the procedure called Deep Brain Therapy he underwent.

Currently there are about 175 people in the Parkes district . Along with members of the group, survivors, Parkinson Carers and other interested people attended the meeting.

Lunch was hosted by the Trundle Services and Citizens Club and the Salvation Army provided the bus.

In aim of the support group are to generally bring to the public's attention a better understanding of what Parkinson's is about and the plight of people afflicted with it.
