Trundle Bush Tucker Day AGM - 2010

The Trundle Bush Tucker Day AGM was held on February 11, 2010, and the distribution of funds raised from our 2009 event was handed out to some very deserving groups and committees.

$16,800 was distributed to organisations including:

Trundle Pony Club,
Trundle Children's Centre,
Trundle Central School,
St Patricks Trundle,
Can Assist,

Parkinson’s Support Group,

Trundle Men’s Shed,

Starlight Girl Guides,

Trundle Welfare Committee,

Trundle Star,

CTC@Trundle, and

Junior In2Milo cricketers.

The Trundle Bush Tucker Day is a very unique event that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who aim to support local charities and needy groups, inject money into the local economy, and who also want to share their country town with visitors from far and wide.

The distribution of funds raised at Trundle Bush Tucker Day reflects the real issues and hardships that face this small community. This cash amount does not include the benefit to the town of increased visitation and the flow-on effect to the community of family contact and social interaction.

The increased visitation to our also assists our local businesses, who continue to struggle in the harsh economic climate that the drought has created.

Outgoing President of the Trundle Bush Tucker Day Rose Leighton said: "The Trundle Bush Tucker Day will continue to be a success and will continue to be a viable event for this small country town as it is an appropriate event for the town and as the whole event is designed for the community to come together and enjoy the day, while ensuring that the profit made goes back to those groups and organisations who support Trundle and district.

“The Trundle Bush Tucker Day celebrates what living in the bush is all about, working together towards a common goal. Community members are proud of their town and are pleased to showcase their town and all it has to offer to its visitors," Mrs Leighton said.

A Country Town Rescue

Trundle will receive Australia wide attention when the six part factual series Country Town Rescue screens from Tuesday, March 27 at 8pm on ABC 1.

Country Town Rescue, produced by Za-pruder's Other Films, is an observational documentary series filmed over a year in Trundle.

It's the compelling story of how ordinary Australians come together to save a small rural town whose falling population threatens its very existence,

To save the town from dying a small group of dedicated locals get together and try to boost the town's population by enticing newcomers to the area by offering up abandoned farmhouses for just $1 a week,

Over 400 families applied for only five available farmhouses.
